November 4, 2009, was a watershed moment in American history. That a Black man, a possible descendant of slaves, would be elected President of the United States, literally "Shook up the world." There were millions of people, of every color, age, and economic background who continually utterred the words "not in my lifetime." There were tears from older Black folks who remember seeing the KKK walk down their streets. There were sobs from people who remember living through the "colored only" days. But that is only half of the story.
President Barack Obama is made up of two of our most distinguished leaders. Both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. were influential in bringing Obama into office. Just like Malcolm X, Barack had a history of drug and alcohol use. And just like Malcolm X, he was able to let all that go and become a leader. And like Martin Luther King Jr., he had the polish, the education, and the charisma to make people want to follow him. And with those two men as examples, the "final product" is president Barack Obama!
And on November 4, 2009, both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr shook hands in heaven and celebrated by saying "Mission Accomplished!" My profile picture says it all!
